Priory is a very successful school with an excellent reputation. The school is consistently oversubscribed yet has a genuinely comprehensive intake.  The Governors of this successful school seek to appoint:

A dedicated and flexible person to undertake the role of Cover Supervisor, who in the absence of a class teacher, will supervise students in the school or department under the supervisory arrangements established by the school.  An interest in education and the ability to deliver ideas and concepts to an audience of young people would be desirable.

This is an ideal opportunity if you are looking to become a teacher in the future and want experience of a secondary education setting or are passionate about working in schools.

The actual salary is £16,191 to £16,462 a year for 30 hours a week, Monday to Friday and the position is term time only plus inset days.  The salary is based on grade Single Status grade 4 spinal column points 9-10, £23,114-£23,500.

Teaching Assistant (Oak Centre)

Priory School is a happy and thriving Secondary School based in Lewes, East Sussex. It is a very successful school with an excellent reputation. The Governors are seeking to a Teaching Assistant (temporary until July 2024) experienced in working with students with Special Educational Needs and in particular, students with Autism.  

This role is based within the Oak Centre (ASC Support Centre) and includes supporting the Lead teacher and HLTA with leading classes within the facility, as well as supporting children and their class teachers with differentiating activities within mainstream lessons.  You will be working with outstanding SEN professionals and teachers. 

The role is suitable for candidates who:

  • Are confident, proactive and dedicated
  • Are able to demonstrate creative behaviour management skills and teaching styles
  • Have good academic qualifications and people skills

The actual yearly salary is £16,191 to £16,462.  The hours of work are 30 hours a week term time only 8.30 a.m. to 3.15 p.m.  The grade is Grade 4, Scale point 9-10, £21,189 to £21,575.

The Governors wish to appoint a well-qualified, talented, committed and inspiring Teacher of English, full-time or 0.8/0.7 FTE from September 2024.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate: 

  • High expectations with the ability to inspire and challenge students. 
  • Targeted learning resources to support the diverse make-up of the student body.  
  • A proven track record of impacting upon students' learning. 
  • An ability to teach English at KS3 and KS4. 
  • An understanding of current and future curriculum developments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • The attributes to be a strong form tutor. 
  • Qualified Teacher Status.

The salary grade is Teachers Main/Upper Pay Scale £30,000 to £46,525.  The post would be suitable for either an ECT or an experienced teacher.

Teacher of MFL

Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish)

The Governors seek to appoint a well-qualified, Linguist with a dynamic and innovative approach to modern language teaching.   The ideal candidate must be able to teach Spanish to GCSE level, an ability to teach French or German at KS3 would also be beneficial.

The Modern Foreign Language department has 9 staff. French, Spanish and German are taught across all year groups and Latin is taught for 10 weeks in year 7.  The ability to teach Latin is desirable but not essential.  Latin is taught at GCSE level.  Exam results are consistently excellent and the department is friendly, supportive and positive with an ethos of innovation and challenge. 

This position is fixed term to cover a period of leave from 1st September 2024 to 31 August 2025.  The salary scale for this vacancy is Teachers main/upper pay scale £30,000 to £46,525.  

This would be an ideal opportunity for either an experienced practitioner or for an Early Careers Teacher newly qualified teacher.
