Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages (part-time) 

Fixed term from 1st September 2026 to 31 August 2027

The Governors seek to appoint a part-time well-qualified Linguist with a dynamic and innovative approach to modern language teaching, 0.6 to 0.8 FTE from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027.  

The ideal candidate must be able to teach Spanish to GCSE level, an ability to teach French at KS3 would also be beneficial. The Modern Foreign Language department has 8 staff. French and Spanish are taught across all year groups, German is currently taught Years 9 -11, Latin is taught at 9-11.  Exam results are consistently excellent, and the department is friendly, supportive and positive with an ethos of innovation and challenge. 

This position is fixed term from 1st September 2026 to 31 August 2027.  The salary scale for this vacancy is Teachers main/upper pay scale £32,916 to £51,048.  

This would be an ideal opportunity for either an experienced practitioner or for an Early Careers Teacher newly qualified teacher.

The Governors seek to appoint a dynamic and innovative part-time teacher of PE and Dance fixed-term from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027 to work 0.6-0.8 FTE, days to be confirmed.  The ability to offer high quality Sport and Dance lessons to KS3 and KS4 PE core will be required, as well as the ability to demonstrate excellent theoretical knowledge. We are seeking to appoint someone that is fully committed to our busy PE and Dance extra-curricular programme, including shows, clubs and fixtures. The post will involve teaching mixed gender and mixed ability groups.
 
Both departments are well-established and successful, delivering a broad and balanced National Curriculum programme across Key Stages 3 and 4.  At Key Stage 4 the PE department currently offers GCSE PE (full course), and the BTEC Level 1/2 in Sport. At Key Stage 4 the Dance department currently offers GCSE Dance (full course).

The salary scale is Teachers Pay Main/Upper, £32,916 to £51,048. The post would be suitable for either an ECT or an experienced teacher.

TEACHING ASSISTANT (term time)

 

Priory School is a happy and thriving Secondary School based in Lewes, East Sussex. It is a very successful school with an excellent reputation. The Governors are seeking to appoint a temporary Teaching Assistant (until July 2027), experienced in working with students with Special Educational Needs and in particular, students with Autism. 

This position is based within the Oak Centre (ASC Support Centre) and on the main school site. The role includes supporting the Oak Lead teacher and HLTA with leading classes within the facility, as well as supporting children and their class teachers with differentiating activities within mainstream lessons.  You will be required to deliver primary level 1:1 and small group lessons.  You will be working with outstanding SEN professionals and teachers.

This role is suitable for candidates who:

  • Are confident, proactive and dedicated
  • Are able to demonstrate creative behaviour management skills and teaching styles
  • Have good academic qualifications and people skills

The actual yearly salary is £17,641 to £17,920 (39 working weeks, 6.05 holiday weeks, 45.05 total paid weeks).  The hours of work are 30 hours a week term time only 8.30 a.m. to 3.15 p.m.  The grade is Grade 4, Scale point 9-10, £25,185 to £25,583.

The Governors wish to appoint Principal Lunchtime Supervisors who will be employed on a permanent or casual basis to supervise students during lunchtimes.  The lunchtime period is 5 hours a week, Monday to Friday (term-time) from 1.00 p.m. until 2.00 p.m.  The rate of pay is £12.85 per lunchtime session (Single Status Grade 3, point 7) the actual yearly is £2,894.
