2 MarchWe look forward to celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 5th March. This is always a much‑loved event in our school calendar and a wonderful opportunity for our whole community to come together to celebrate the joy of books and reading.
This year’s event ties into the National Year of Reading, the biggest UK reading campaign in a generation. It was launched in response to worrying declines in young people reading for pleasure. The theme, “Go All In – If you're into it, read into it,” encourages children to discover books that match their interests - from sport and music to fashion, gaming, animals, adventures, and anything else that sparks their curiosity.
One of the highlights of the day will be our book-themed costume competition. Students and staff are invited to come dressed as a
favourite book character - whether from a classic novel, a modern story, a poem, a picture book, or a graphic novel. Costumes can be
as simple or as imaginative as students wish. If possible, we encourage pupils to bring the book itself, or a printed copy of the cover, so
they can share the story behind their costume.
