Cover Supervisor
Priory is a very successful school with an excellent reputation. The school is consistently oversubscribed yet has a genuinely comprehensive intake. The Governors of this successful school seek to appoint:
A dedicated and flexible person to undertake the role of Cover Supervisor, who in the absence of a class teacher, will supervise students in the school or department under the supervisory arrangements established by the school. An interest in education and the ability to deliver ideas and concepts to an audience of young people would be desirable.
This is an ideal opportunity if you are looking to become a teacher in the future and want experience of a secondary education setting or are passionate about working in schools.
The actual salary is £16,191 to £17,017 a year for 30 hours a week, Monday to Friday and the position is term time only plus inset days. The salary is based on grade Single Status grade 4/5 scale points 9-13, £23,114-£24,293.

Clerk to the Governors

The Governors wish to appoint a Clerk to the Governors. This is a vital role which is critical to the effectiveness of our Governing Body in fulfilling its core strategic functions. You will take responsibility for providing independent advice, guidance and support to the Board of Governors on a range of matters relating to governance, constitutional and procedural matters and you will provide administrative support to the Board of Governors. You will work closely with the Chair of Governors to make meeting arrangements, produce accurate minutes, advise the Board on the Regulatory Framework, support the recruitment and retirement of members of the Board of Governors and organise appropriate Governor induction and training.
This is a varied and interesting role which will suit someone who wishes to work flexibly, as work can be completed in school or remotely. Meetings require evening attendance either at School or remotely (all meetings are scheduled in advance, with reasonable notice provided). Equipment will be provided.
You must have experience of minute-taking, good ICT and communication skills and be able to work with minimal supervision. You must be highly organised and have good attention to detail combined with the ability to manage your own time, balance a variety of responsibilities and prioritise tasks. Previous clerking experience is desirable but not essential as training and support will be provided. You must however have the skills to effectively manage information in accordance with legal requirements.
The hours of work are on an annualized hours basis and are 209 hours a year. The total yearly paid hours are 241.51. The actual yearly salary is £3,328 to £3,410. The salary is based on Single Status Grade 7, point 18-19. £26,539 to £27,176.

Examination Invigilators (Casual)

The Governors wish to appoint Examination Invigilators who will be employed on a casual basis to supervise students taking internal and external examinations throughout the academic year. The hourly rate of pay is £11.59 an hour.
Full training will be provided and staff will be contacted prior to the exam period to discuss the invigilation schedule in relation to their own availability ideally you would need to be available during the main exam periods from; 11 – 22 November, 24 – 28 February, 7 May to 27 June plus other dates for training and smaller exams.

TEACHING ASSISTANTS (Oak Centre)

Priory School is a happy and thriving Secondary School based in Lewes, East Sussex. It is a very successful school with an excellent reputation. The Governors are seeking to recruit a Teaching Assistant on a temporary basis until July 2025, experienced in working with students with Special Educational Needs and in particular, students with Autism.
This role is based within the Oak Centre (ASC Support Centre) and includes supporting the Lead teacher and HLTA with leading classes within the facility, as well as supporting children and their class teachers with differentiating activities within mainstream lessons. You will be working with outstanding SEN professionals and teachers.
These roles are suitable for candidates who:
- Are confident, proactive and dedicated
- Are able to demonstrate creative behaviour management skills and teaching styles
- Have good academic qualifications and people skills
The actual yearly salary is £16,191 to £16,462. The hours of work are 30 hours a week term time only and to include inset days (39 working weeks and 45.05 paid weeks a year), 8.30 a.m. to 3.15 p.m. The salary is based on Single Status Grade 4, points 9-10, £23,114 to £23,500.
