Parents and Carers invitation to iCan Careers Event 23.01.20

East Sussex LA  are inviting parents of students aged 14-18 with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) and/or students with barriers to accessing mainstream careers events to attend the iCan careers event on 23rd January 2020 at the Kings Church in Eastbourne. Students and parents/carers will have the opportunity to meet colleges, local training providers and over 30 employers from across the county and through four rooms :


1.    The Interactive Hall, where education providers and employers will be providing engaging activities for students to take part in, including using virtual reality;
2.    The Work Ready room, will help young people with their CV skills, writing their personal statements, improving their interview skills, college applications, and their overall personal development;
3.    The Careers Hotspot room, will enable young people to meet with employers and providers to learn about routes into employment and gain information about careers;
4.    The Careers Cinema will be running career films focused on construction and the health and social care sectors, with a question and answer session with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and Allied Health Professionals.


This year all four rooms will be open to parents and carers from 15.00 -16.30, where you can find information on next steps from employers, and take part in coding workshops with Microsoft.
